It is difficult to write reviews for fertility clinics since there is so much inherent bias in terms of whether or not one receives a positive outcome. My wife and I, both physicians, understand that online reviews are largely skewed in this regard and tend to focus on things like "customer service" and factors that are somewhat irrelevant to the quality of the medical care received. In our case, however, there is no choice but to give Dr. Acacio and his staff 5 stars.
Briefly, my wife and I had been trying to build a family for about 5 years prior to seeing Dr. Acacio. We had gone through the diagnostics and treatments of 2 separate fertility clinics with no positive results and only bad memories. After years of emotional rollercoasters, tears, false hope, exhaustion, and an increasing sense of resignation, we decided to switch clinics one more time before moving on with our lives. We had heard of Dr. Acacio through word of mouth and online publicity. Based out of Fresno and mainly working out of the Bakersfield office, committing to the time and logistics of arranging our care from hundreds of miles away was worth, in our opinion, the peace of mind knowing we were seeing someone so highly regarded in the reproductive endocrine field. We were "all in", one last time.
Heading into our first appointment, our expectations were low given our prior experiences at other clinics. We could not have been more wrong. He thoroughly reviewed our medical history with us present, paying attention to every detail. Being physicians familiar with seeing new patients, the amount of time he spent developing a specific diagnostic and treatment plan to our case was striking. His bedside manner immediately struck us as exceptional and he went above and beyond all expectations, we had to head in. As our case proceeded, changes and adjustments were made appropriately with his medical expertise. It was clear to both of us that he is passionate, attentive to details, and attune to the difficult emotional tolls that fertility treatments can levy. At our prior clinics, we had countless appointments were walking out of the office, we would be holding back tears, only to break down in the parking lot while scrambling to the car. My wife and I were amazed that no matter what happened, we left every visit with Dr. Acacios office and staff feeling better, even when the news was less than stellar.
Without getting into the details, 7 months have passed since that first appointment and we are blessed to be almost 12 weeks pregnant with our first child. The entire process was a 5-star experience. Even before our positive result, my wife and I marveled at how different the process and experience was with Dr. Acacio compared to the other clinics. Without the positive result, there is no doubt in my mind that we would have at least taken comfort in the fact that Dr. Acacio offered us the latest, most advanced, and up-to-date medical care that fertility clinics have to offer.
We would highly recommend Dr. Acacio to anyone struggling to build a family. We are blessed to have been able to afford the time, money, and effort, and couldn't be happier. Every case is different, and there are no guarantees in health care, but put us in the category of a couple who started with almost no hope, and now are blessed to have the experience of a pregnancy for the first time.
